Mission Statement

Explore. Learn. Experiment. Express.

What is VeryCreate?

In our supercharged digital world people have a deep seated need to express themselves and connect with other people by creating tangible things with their hands.  Perfection isn’t the goal. The whole point is to make a unique personal creation!

Here at VeryCreate (short for VeryCreate.com) our mission is to help you learn, explore and experiment in whatever area you are interested in. We’ll research and glean the best information possible and condense it down into what you need to know to get started creating. Most of all, express yourself and have fun!

Managing Editor

VeryCreate is the brainchild of Anita HartCarroll.

A creative jack-of-all-trades, she has been a fine artist, musician, music teacher, illustrator, musician, geologist, expert sewer, quilter, architectural draftsman and house designer, crafter, a teacher, a landscape designer, a mom of three and life-long explorer of all things creative.

“VeryCreate is perfect for me!  When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I always said ‘Nancy Drew and an artist!”

(yup, that determined, tenacious, smart teen sleuth from the 1940’s who dug and dug until she solved each crime and nabbed the bad guy).  This blog perfectly melds my two personas.

I research, dig, dig, dig  until I find all the information that is useful and time saving for all things creative.

I know from first hand experience how very long it takes to amass enough knowledge about a subject to become even moderately accomplished.

I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars over decades taking countless university, college and art school classes, workshops, private and group lessons, and I know that sometimes the teachers suck, to be frank.

Just because you can do something well doesn’t mean you can teach.  The lost time and lost hard earned wages just makes me want to bawl.  I’m hoping to spare you that same experience.

Gaining a respectable amount of knowledge on any topic is a real time eater. It takes detective work, experience, savvy and sometimes a prohibitive amount of money.

At VeryCreate my goal is to maximize your learning in the shortest time possible and give you the benefit of my experience and research.

Here is a sample of my art:

I know beginners need materials so that they can get right to creating with a minimal investment.

They need a heads up on what to avoid, what is outright unnecessary,  what compromises will need to be made when sacrificing for budget considerations and what is really critical to have.

And those with more experience need an honest review of professional materials if and when an upgrade would make sense.

The internet is a huge benefit to us, but it can also be in-your-face-marketing (which drives me crazy!).

You know those websites that annoy you with pop-up ads, constant prompts to “Purchase here NOW” buttons and dozens of obvious ways to take your money.

What I want is a blog that gives you the real honest low down on products, respects your intelligence and your ability to make the best decision and a link to purchase that keeps it fast, safe and simple so you can get on with your life.

I can’t wait to help you get started in your own creative life!
